Crossing The Line

Moving into typography and image interaction, Crossing the Line was easily one of my favorite pieces to work on in regard to taking a challenge head on that I was never faced with before. We had to create a poster for an exhibit going on titled “Crossing the Line” and that was basically our only requirement and the rest we had flexibility over. I started looking up who was attending the event, and found a fascinating picture of artist Rachid Ouramdane. I then took a black and white half portrait of his face into photoshop and manipulated it so that it looked like it was just of him head on towards the camera with his full face. I then decided that not only would I include the title of the exhibit in bold type over his eyes concealing his identity to the normal viewer but that I would give it a glitched effect which I have always been a fan of. I originally had it monochromatic with a resting white, but layered red on the background of the type and the interaction worked smoothly thus changing the figure to an identical red as well.
